Purchasing & Scheduling Associate

Crary Industries is currently seeking a Purchasing and Scheduling Associate. This role will be based in the West Fargo location.

Position Objective

To assist in scheduling and managing production work orders and coordinating manufacturing activities to support efficient and high quality workflow. To help purchase assigned commodities at a competitive price to support the manufacturing requirements of the company.

The Purchasing and Scheduling Associate will help plan, monitor and coordinate the work schedule between the sales organizations and the production department as well as assist purchasing.

Key Activities/Responsibilities:

· Purchase broad variety of items requiring extensive and specialized knowledge

· Purchase a heavy dollar volume

· Purchase products at a competitive price

· Work closely with the other purchasing associates as needed to ensure production demands are met without carrying excess inventory

· Reschedule purchase orders with vendors to insure on time delivery and accommodate schedule changes

· Assist in vendor selection

· Work with accounts payable and suppliers to address discrepancies between the purchase order cost and the invoiced cost when needed

· Help in processing engineering change orders and coordinate with vendors to insure we are receiving components to the latest revision

· Keep management informed of price changes that will affect sale price of our product

· Assist in entering new standard on an annual basis

· Specify and adhere to inbound freight programs

· Develop and maintain production schedules for all manufacturing operations

· Schedule job flow within and between each of the manufacturing departments

· Review, release and distribute shop orders to the appropriate manufacturing areas

· Coordinate with purchasing to ensure the availability of purchased components to meet the production schedule when changes are made within standard lead-time

· Coordinates with sales, engineering, accounting and other departments, as necessary, concerning the production/availability status to meet customer orders

· Identify and recommend methods to improve scheduling, overall manufacturing productivity and department effectiveness

· Work with the quality department and vendors to resolve quality issues when needed along with facilitating the return of nonconforming components.

· Keep the Material Manager informed of important developments, potential problem and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinate/communicate plans and activities with other personnel to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach

· May assist and provide work direction to the manufacturing coordinator

· Performs related duties as needed by supervisor


· Two years college preferred

Job experience:

  • One to two years-prior experiences in the purchasing, scheduling, or manufacturing environment preferred.

Skills required:
