Shipping Supervisor

Position Objective

· To supervise all shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. Responsible for all outbound and inbound freight to assure receipt and delivery as required which ensure the efficient on-time shipment of products to customers.

· The Shipping Supervisor works closely with our production and management teams to ensure all finished goods ship out safely and effectively with the highest level of quality. This is a hands-on role.

Key Activities/Responsibilities:

· In addition to performing the requirements of other shipping personnel the Shipping Supervisor will organize and plan work, assigns job duties and monitors progress to ensure that all shipping and receiving and warehouse functions are performed in a timely and efficient manner.

· Develop and update written procedures for each task. Standardize work and cross train employees.

· Analyze shipping methods and carriers to determine most cost-effective solutions.

· Supervises and coordinates the shipping function to ensure orders are packed and shipped in a manner which ensures accurate and timely delivery of undamaged products at proper destinations.

· Coordinates the receiving function to ensure that all incoming material is promptly received and moved to its proper location.

· Responsible for training employees on forklift driving, company procedures and all shipping and receiving functions.

· Responsible for service part packaging and shipping.

· Manage physical inventory and cycle counts.

· Demonstrate understanding of the extended process of order receipt and entry, material procurement, order release, assembly, shipment, and invoice payment.

· Ensures assigned areas are staffed sufficiently to meet work requirements. Interviews selects and orients new employees to their assigned area.

· Establishes performance requirements and clarifies responsibilities to those supervised. Conducts performance evaluations and identifies/communicates plans for individual employee improvement.

· Administers safety programs in line with company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Maintains housekeeping standards, which will promote safe and efficient operations.

· Develops recommends and implements new procedures and methods to improve quality and production efficiency.

· Keeps the Director of Operations informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates/communicates with other departments as required in a team effort to meet the customer’s needs.

· Performs other work-related duties as required.

Education (technical and/or commercial):

· Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Job experience (years and type of experience):

· Minimum of 1 year supervisory or management experience in a medium to face paced manufacturing/operations environment, preferably warehousing and parts packaging.

Skills required:

· Ability to organize and run work in a timely and effective manner.

· Strong working knowledge of the Shipping and Receiving process and methods.

· Strong working knowledge of the equipment, materials, and practices used in production.

· Demonstrate understanding of the extended process of order receipt and entry, material procurement, order release, assembly, shipment, and invoice payment.

· Knowledge of all computer systems such as the UPS Shipping Program, LTL Program, and manufacturing computer software programs (IFS a plus).

· Knowledge and ability to produce Bills of Lading and Export documents.

· Strong working knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions such as lights, guards, switches, etc.

· Ability to understand, follow and issue routine oral and written instructions.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

· Strong communication and employee relations skills.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
