Crary Industries currently has an excellent opportunity in our agricultural manufacturing facility for an individual seeking a position as a Director of Operations.

The Director of Operations, through a competent and motivated manufacturing staff, will plan and produce products based on sales forecasts in an efficient and profitable manner. The Director of Operations is a key member of Crary executive team, directly responsible for the leadership of the company’s raw materials procurement and inventory management, product manufacturing, process and product engineering, regulatory compliance, and equipment and facility maintenance. This position will establish and execute critical strategic initiatives to increase operational excellence, improve manufacturing processes, and play an integral role in driving continuous improvement. This individual will be accountable for driving positive operating results for all manufacturing related operations.

Key Activities/Responsibilities:

Plan and implement the daily and monthly production schedule based on the 12-month rolling sales forecast.
Produce the products in an efficient manner. Our strategy is to implement Lean-manufacturing methods to drive out waste.
Develop the manufacturing systems to allow flexibility to change the agreed upon schedule within reasonable constraints of time and money.
Work with the sales departments daily to produce what is best for all the customers.
Manufacture products to the company’s quality standards.
Assure safety is promoted and practiced. Attends all safety meetings as a key participant.
Keep managers and direct reports informed weekly of what the plant is doing and why.
Develop annual operations and capital budget for the production department based on the sales forecast.
Monitor the plant manufacturing costs on a monthly basis.
Focus on keeping inventory levels at a minimum but meeting sales and marketing’s forecasts.
Review and agree on capital expenditures for accuracy, competitive position, cost reduction, and long-range planning before forwarding justification to the President.
Review major capital expenditures to assure achievement of plan return on six-month and one-year basis.
Provide for and participant in the development of effective and innovative employees for positions in your department.
Review salary structure and manpower requirements and assure proper staffing is always maintained.
Maintain effective position descriptions and standards of performance.
Assure that employee performance is properly reviewed.
Approve employment and termination of subordinates. Assure compliance with the laws and regulations.
Keep appraised of trends and regulations.
Perform tasks assigned by the President as well as suggest areas of improvement.
Education:

Must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, QC, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
Job experience:

5-10+ years of direct manufacturing management experience
5+ years of experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
Production Scheduling experiences with MRP/ERP systems
Skills required:

Strong lean manufacturing experience especially in continuous improvement, elimination of waste, and visual management
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Able to control operation of equipment and conduct inspections of products and processes to evaluate quality
Able to plan, direct and delegate work to others, assess performance and make improvements or take corrective action
Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to work with minimum direction and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships with both internal and external customers
Must have a team-oriented mindset and be able to communicate in front of groups of employees and peers
Strong computer skills in order to analyze, organize and present data and information using Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint)
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A self-starter who takes a proactive approach and has good decision-making skills.
